Difference between Board Supply and Motor Supply

I am referring to the NXP motor controller evaluation board NXP motor evaluation board and when i refer the quick start guide Quick guide
the external power supply is 8 - 18V, but the PM motor connected is 24V. My understanding is 24V or motor voltage is generated from the external power supply (8-18V), but how do i know what motor voltage rating i can connect? Can it be 48V as well?

The kit is obviously made for (and contains) a 24 V motor. A 48 V motor may or may not work - at least the kit is not desigend for 48 V.

Looking at the application notes in the documentation section:

I see that the fet stage has a 35 Volts capacitor on the power lines:


I would not use voltages higher than 24 Volts on that board.
