Hello,

How can I convert the digital sound from a flat screen tv to analog? I have some amplified speakers and would like to use them with the flat screen tv. I haven't really looked, but I am sure there is a digital output on the back of the tv. They sell a $400 "sound bar" that hooks up to the tv. Can I use a D/A converter circuit and then use my Radio Shack amplified speakers? At the present time, I am using the Radio Shack speakers plugged in to the Dish Receiver and it does not work real well. The tv volume must be turned down to nothing or a serious reverb occurs. Thanks for any help.

A simple D/ converter will not suffice as the digital audio from the TV is serially coded. You would need at least a suitable audio DAC plus a power supply plus a housing...
What's the output of the TV? Coax, Optical, HDMI?
Find the correct output and buy a cheap (~50 , be it Euros, Pound or Dollars) amplifier with the corresponding digital input.
