Hi,
My dishwasher is a Baumatic BWDI631 which runs through the cycle without heating at all. Ive measured the heater element at approx 30ohm so I think that's ok. During the cyle the voltage starts at 2V and goes up to 29V for the main cleaning part of the cycle. This sounds low to me, any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Hi Andy,
The element sounds ok although on the high side. 30 ohms would be a maximum I would have thought.
Have you checked the thermostat?

Hi
Not sure where the thermostat is located! There's a small unit on the output of the water heater which could potentially be a thermostat; this is wired in series with the supply to the heater

That sounds about right. Although most I have fixed, the thermostat is near the bottom or underneath.
Sorry, I didn't check your model. I will have a look and see where it is located.
Give me ten mins.

Does that unit you can see resemble this part?

Not really! I'm just trying checking the voltage between the input to this unit and the output of the heater (in effect taking it out of circuit) to see if this is limiting the supply to the heater which I would expect to be up around 240V at full power

I'm not sure that I'm actually looking at the thermostat but its open circuit. I was hoping that with it in effect out of circuit, as per my last thread, I might get a higher voltage across the heater but still only 29V

Are you laying on your back with the plinth off the machine? The thermostat will be a small metalic can with two wires.Like I posted earlier, but the wires may be red or blue or tartan. It is underneath.
The heating element normally has 240v on the live side to chassis.

I've even had the dishwasher on its side with the bottom off and I can't see anything that looks like the thermostat. Ive also had the left hand cover off and I still can't find it! Any more ideas as to its location? Possibly under the right hand side cover?

Andy, how about posting some pictures here. I can't find the service manual for yours.
Just a clear photo of the part you think is the thermostat and a good shot of underneath!.
I am sure we can sort out where the hidden treasure is!'
Just for fun, take the right side off too. Sods law it will be looking at you!

I'll take some photos but may need to put the left hand cover back on first or I could be left with a lot of screws!

Look for wires going into the insulation on the upper portion of dishwasher.
It is likely buried under that insulation material.
