Hi,

I am in the process of selecting a DSP platform for audio signal processing.

Before I commit to a platform I was wondering is anyone out there has
any experience good and bad with the various platforms that exist.

I am looking along the lines of the Analog Devices SHARC series.

Although at this stage nothing has been set in concrete.

Cheers

IMO that's the right one ;-)
You might want to ask this in comp.dsp where there are plenty of dsp
experts doing audio development...

The two commonest DSP platforms are probbaly the Ti TMS320 families, and
the AD ADSP2xxxx families. On the higher end parts Ti seems to be
preferred by the imaging guys, while the high end audio guys seem to
prefer the AD platform. personally I like the algebraic programming of
the AD parts, but detest the fact that they still require external boot
memory, and lack flash based parts. Depending on what audio work you are
doing the 56F800 from Motorola might be adequate, and they were doing a
special on dev kits for peanuts. Certainly capable of most audio codec,
low level sonar, radar, EEG, ECG and music effects work. The blackfin
dev kit is also on special at US$99 right now from AD.
