Hi Friends,
I have a dt9205a multimeter. I wanted to measure DC voltage of more than 1000V. After I place probes on terminals, my multimeter has gone Off and a Red led under the power button is switched On. I am not sure of the significance of this Led. Now multimeter is not working. When I try to switch on with power button, display is getting on and off.

Request your help to solve the issue?

Thanks,
Sunil

You have not given the specifications of the meter. If you are measuring over 1000V on a 1000V range, then you may have popped it. It may be possible to reset by removing the baattery for a few minutes.
I have a cheap digital meter which fizzed when 600V was applied on the 1000V range. Luckily it still works at low voltages.

The DT9205 is not a suitable meter for measuring ANYTHING over 300V, let alone 1000V!!! I'd be worried doing even 300V on that type of meter.

The reviews on it are 'fake' - done by those that don't know what they're talking about. If you want to SAFELY measure 300V and upwards then get a proper multimeter (and don't expect to pay less than $50-$100 for one). Anything less risks no only the meter but your own life.

You've probably arced over on the circuit board and destroyed the processor.

Have you at least checked the fuse?
It may have popped this if it didn't already destroy the meter.
