DVD Player Won't Release DVD

I hope someone can help me. I played a DVD in my Sony player and, when
it was over, used Open button on my remote. The screen said Open
----but it doesn't open. I also tried the Open button on the box
itself....still not opening. Thanks in advance for any help you can
give me.

Model number ? Does it even try ( sound of motor trying to run ) ? Has the
disc definitely stopped rotating ? Does it re-play ok and all other
functions still work ? Have you tried a full power down reset ( unplug it
and leave it off-power for a minimum of 10 minutes ) ?

Pull the power cord and wait a day.

Here's a thought.

If the DVD was a rental (or previously viewed purchase) and had a
sticker on it, it may have stuck to the spindle magnet and jammed the
drawer so it cannot open. It will stay play fine in the machine, but you
won't be able to get it out. You have to open the player up and unstick
it, then it will eject ok.

Been there, done that. Had to buy the guy a new dvd because my player
tried to open the drawer anyways and scratched up the DVD that was stuck
to the magnet. The DVD skipped a lot after that. I fixed it after the
fact though, using the CD doctor stuff, so at least I ended up with a
playable dvd.

Sounds like one of those rotten "dvdceiver" models.

Yick.

I unplugged it for a few minutes and when I powered on, it opened
immediately.
This was a rental Nexflix DVD from an old BBC series, so perhaps it was
a faulty DVD. Thanks for your helpful responses.
