efficient motor speed control using Class D audio amplifiers

Since the amp is fed DC, this is really just simple PWM, right? You
can roll this yourself or probably adapt a DC/DC power suppy chip.

Ah, hit by the blindingly obvious... Class D amp driving a motor = 555
+ mosfet + protection diode...

Thanks. I was looking to control a 12V, 8A (peak startup current)
pump motor, but maybe class d audio amps are not the most efficient
way of going about it... I'm now looking into surplus laptop power
supply (~100W, 12V) + 555 + mosfet PWM.
