Electromagnet levitation circuit LED not glowing

I have not connected the electromagnet yet. Yet, the IR led is glowing but the LED light on the right side of the circuit is not glowing on connecting the supplies. Is there a problem in the circuit ? What could be that I connected wrong ?

So you mean the right led should glow without connecting the electromagnet ?
Not necessarily. The error could be in your construction - is the LED fitted correctly etc? Is the rest of the circuit built properly? Only you can tell.

Yes, if it is constructed correctly the LED across the electromagnet should be on when there is nothing under the electromagnet.

Pin 1 and pin 7 of the dual op-amp should be closer to the +e rail than the negative.

The schematic shows a +/- 12V supply. Is that what you're using, or are you using a simple 12V supply?

Depending on your power supply, the rapid switching of the electromagnet may affect the operation of the op-amps. Personally, I would decouple the power supplies.

do you mean .. the left op amp should have pin 1 towards + rail and the right one should have pin 7 towards the + rail ?

The outputs of the op amps should be high.

Okay thanks..could I use two 12 V batteries and connect 1.the positive terminal of one battery to ground and the negative terminal of the same battery to the -12 V input. And 2. Vice versa for the second battery to give input for +12 V.

or should I rather opt for a DC supply.

Are you telling me you don't have a power supply right now? (No wonder it's not working)
