Hi,
Please help.
I bought a torch and after opening the package found out that it lighted up only with the charger connected and not with the battery. I charged it nothing happened. I thought the battery was faulty so opened up the torch and checked the battery. I couldn't find the same battery so bought a same battery 3.6 V rechargeable one. I connected it externally with wires because it was not of the same shape. The torch lighted up for a day and after it got discharged I connected the torch to charge. It again did not get charged and now am at the same stage.
The torch has some fault inside. Please help because I am not an electronics engineer.
Posting the pics of the torch and it's internal circuits.

You did what I would do. My only question first, is did you buy the correct composition battery as the original one?
The circuit that charges the battery, was designed for a specific battery type (ie: nickel cadmium, nickel-metal Hydride, lithium ion).
I also agree that it sure sounds like your charging circuit has a fault (if the connector jack itself for your recharger is
not faulty: not making proper contact with the internal battery recharging circuit). But the first thing I would check,
is the replacement batteries themselves as to battery type. Next, I would check the original battery pack, did it
have any other electronic components attached to it that are missing from the replacement batteries? Some
battery packs have extra components, specific to the torch/recharging circuit either because they want only
their own products for replacement batteries, or to reduce the components on the internal circuit board of the
torch itself).
Do you have a manufacturer or model number of this torch that can be Googled on-line for specific information
about it?
Did you buy it new, and is there a warranty on it?

Ah, the LED will last 50,000 hours ... but not the electronics that charge the battery. Repairs are difficult. Toss it and buy a simpler torch ...just batteries and LED, no electronics.

The original battery was round, pic posted. The new battery was rectangular, details in pic. And the torch was bought from another city and moved to another. Warranty was not checked and bills thrown away :) sounds stupid hmm...yup that's what happened. The other component was just a USB cable to connect to laptop for charging the torch. And I think it's a Chinese torch, company BTWIN bought from Decathlon store.
Appreciate your replies though.
