I am working on a project and I need a bit of help. Here's the scenario;
I am using a CYC63743C USB controller and want to run an isolated 17V relay. I am trying to use a 4n35 optocoupler to run the relay but can't seem to get the 4n35 to fire (or so it seems). I have tried using a 1k resister (and many other values) in line with the 5v i/o pin on the USB controller but can't get the relay to fire (on the output side of the 4n35). I believe I have everything wired correctly as far as polaruty is concerned.
Perhaps I am incorrect in believing I can use the 4n35 to act like an analog switch. I need some way of firing the 17V relay and definately want an isolated circuit. Anybody have any ideas? I need to keep it as low cost as possible.
