External phase detector with MAX038

Hello everybody,

I would like to use the MAX038 as a sinewave generator. The output
must be in constant phase with an external square wave signal: phase
between output and input = 0º = constant within the lock range. My
input signal will change from ~1MHz to ~1.5MHz.

Can I use the Phase Comparator 2 of the PLL4046 as external phase
detector for the MAX038 and then have the requirements that I desire?

In the data sheet of the MAX038 figure 5, there is a "frequency phase
detector", but I am not sure this is identical to the Phase Comparator
2 of the 4046. (figure 4 shows a phase detector similar to the phase
comparator 1 of the 4046, but I don't want to use that one).

Thank for your answer

Find something made by *any* other company.
Maxim has a bad habit of not making a large number of their advertised
parts.
They aer so bad that a nnumber of distributors actually refuse to
carry them.
But if you have tens of thousands of dollars and 6-14 months to
wait.......
