Can someone help me make a 5watt LED flash? Maybe a diagram or a video on how make a flashing circuit for a 5watt LED. Need a good place buy the led and names of the parts I'll need for this projects.

In order to supply you with detailed information we need detailed information from you.

What color LED will you use? What power supply will you use? What will the flash frequency and duty cycle be? Will this be portable?

Like make it red or white. Like have it ran off a battery depending on how many volts it will need. So it will be portable. And the other things you said bit hard for me tell because Im new at this stuff.

Keep in mind that white LEDs can require an operating voltage more than twice that of a red LED. With this in mind a direct battery source to power either will necessarily waste battery power when used with red LEDs. If you pick one or the other we can design the battery voltage for minimum power loss, thus max efficiency. Of course you could use a small boost converter but they have loss too.

Do you have any places you may recommend buy led's from on the web?

I wouldn't have worry about any over heating would I? Its going be flashing not a constant light. Worried about that because ebay screwed me over with a 1,000lumen flash light be4 that didn't have over overheating protection

It depends totally on the average current. (well not totally -- the flash rate and the peak current have an effect. If the on time is well under a second then average should work out nicely).

If the average current is 20mA, then no, you won't require a heatsink. If it is 200mA you will.

They're pretty small, and surface mount -- with the connections in a tricky place.

They also look like just over $2 each to me.

Oh, and they're about 2W
What do you mean by their pretty small? and what does surface mount mean?

Surface mount components typically don't employ wire leads that feed through PCB holes to be soldered on the bottom side of the board, They require superior soldering skills, as the typical soldering iron tip can be larger than the entire component. They're soldered to the component side of the board.

What about the 555 timer/with a led Would that be the same ideal of this project with a 100+ lumen light

I'm not sure what you're asking but there are varied versions of the 555. An LM555 by National Semiconductor specs source and sink output @ 200mA Max. If you need more drive current you can have the 555 drive the base of a BJT or the gate of a MOSFET.

This what im talking about Link: https://www.electronicspoint.com/cant-understand-got-right-t255707.html
"Can't understand this, I got it right?" Is the link to it. I wantting know If other than just a 3mm led would that set up in the photo work same with this thing im trying do with a led but more powerful one

As I stated in my last post: If your LED is going to operate at over 200mA you'll need a driver. What current level will this LED operate at? What will your power source be and what operating voltage? If I find time I'll draw it for you. In the interim try Googling "High Power 555 LED Driver".

Ok understand that now. Also think I found the light I want. Here link to it http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/LR W5AM-HZJZ-1-Z/475-2821-6-ND/2176391
But I need be sure that's 118 lumens and I also need find a lens for the light but don't know what size I need. Came across these and looked like type of lenses I would like try and use. Here is the links to the 3 types of lenses I came across

Cant say thanks enough for helping me out with this stuff :)
