Fluke 23 with low intensity LCD display

Has anyone encounteres this problem before
I tried cleaning the rubber carbon contact of the LCD still no go.

Any help appreciated

If you tilt it so you're looking at it from an angle above or below
perpendicular and the contrast is improved, chances are that the driving
voltage (to the entire display) is too low.

I figure that it had to be a voltage to the LCD display itself as like
you mentioned, if I tilt it or provide my own lighting (flashlight) I
can see the display OK.

I do not have diagrams, and I was hoping that someone that might have
repaired one of these units before would steer me in the right
direction.

IT is Fluke 23, lower end of the meters, just maybe in those days they
used lamps versus LED or other type of backlighting that last much
longer now. But again I do not know and can't tell just by looking at
it.
