Hi,
I am trying to do this design, and i am quite a newbie.
I have everything hooked except the variable capacitor, my variable
capacitor has three legs and I don't know which ones to use, I tried a
combination, but nothing worked. Also, does it matter if i used a coil
from an old AM radio?
As you see, I am just a newbie, please help me though.

Thanks in advance,

Yes, it makes a difference which coil you use. The coil and
cap determine the operating frequency, so make a coil like
the instructions say. About the cap, I'd have to see it,
but if you understand that a cap is just two metal plates,
you could probably figure out which two leads to hook
up by inspection. Probably two of the leads are one plate,
and the other is the other plate. If you've hooked it up
in all possible ways, you might have blown the transistor
because that would be a short.

Wish I could be more help - there are lots of books, and
sometimes a google search will turn up tutorials and
stuff, and fairly often someone posts a link to a beginners'
electronics site of some kind.

Good Luck!

Thank you very much Rich,
I am guessing that the only reason i am not getting anything out of it
is because the coil is too much, I will try to make one according to
the instructions and see if that helps.

Again, thank you very much.
