Fried pcb for led lamp

Ceiling lamp pcb got fried after it was installed incorrectly. cables from out end of transformer, were plugged in red to black and black to red.
The lamp has a panel and rgb led strips. It aslo coes with a controler.

I think all I have to do is replace the voltage regulator that got fried.

As seen on the pictures above I removed the capacitor that was covering the burnt component.
I also removed the glue

I can Identify the component as a SOT89 78L…. Rest is missing
I think it’s a voltage regulator.
But I have no Idea what voltage I need .

78L…

Possibly a 78L05 (5 V regulator) or 78L03 (3.3 V regulator).
Could be either one, the CPU HT66F018 can operat between 2.2 V and 5.5 V, so that is inconclusive. I'd start with the 3.3 V regulatro and switch to 5 V if 3.3 V doesn't work.

On the other hand, you're lucky if it is really only the voltage regulator, not more.

The diode at the bottom of the last picture is also likely shorted.

Big thanks for the replies, I’ll try to get a hold of the components. Might take a few months though, since ali express is the only place I was able to find the VRs…

There are many suppliers such as Farnell, RS Components, Mouser etc that stock those items. Most countries have outlets too.

Can I use ones called L78L or do I need 78L?

If the pinout matches and the technical spec do as well then float your boat!

Could you help picking the right diode to replace the one in the picture? I wanna add it to the order incase it’s broken too.
I’ve been trying to figure this stiff out on my own, but I’m not that well versed in this stuff
