Gold free computer?

Watching BBCA this morning there was a story on voting in Afghanistan.
Folks were running mock elections to train for the upcoming elections.
A sight guard made of cardboard was being used at one of the tables.
It said on the box "GOLD FREE COMPUTER". I can't imagine there is much
gold anyway on a cheap computer. But does this make sense? Are many
PCBs with connectors being made without any gold at all? It seems like
I'm always seeing gold plate inside electronic equipment.
Cheers,
Eric

Frankly, if it's in Afghanistan, I wouldn't be surprised if it's
a brand name.

Cheers!
