Hi

Has anyone has experience with the GPS module from Parallax? Interested in
determining if the GPS receiver will work at all from inside a building.

All info will be appreciated.

Regards
Ed

Very few GPS receivers work indoors, the sattelites only have 50 watt
transmitters and the antennas are set up to cover the globe rather than
be directional, so the signal is really weak. Most won't even work
under heavy tree cover.

Depends on if you want to use it for clock or for positioning. If you are just using it as a timesource then you will need to position the antenna where it can receive enough signal. Positioning is a probable negative.

If you require indoor gps then look for a high sensitivity one (AGPS)
module. As well as being much more sensitive than standard GPS they can
also use assistance data via a GSM network for position location.
