That's a polite way of putting it ;-) 'Bout like being on Washington
Street in downtown Boston.

Right where I used to live, Worcester Square - about -0.5 blocks from
Roxbury, just by the intersection of Mass & Washington. Where I used to
drink in a pub, and go to Karate [snip]
Yes I can cook. No I cant cook buffalo wings.

Cheers
Terry

Ah, yes, Roxbury! Such a high class neighborhood ;-)

I worked late one night and missed the last train from Westwood, so the CEO
dropped me off. When he got to Roxbury I was astounded to see he was
seriously concerned about safety. wow.

The shopping centre (near Andrew station - Southmall?) had the single most
disgusting KMart I have ever seen - inside looked like a dumpster. I asked a
manager about it once and he sighed, said the staff are all fools who hate
their jobs and cant be assed, and the customers are destructive pigs who
throw stuff on the floor faster than it can be picked up (I was minimising
expenditure, so collected furniture from the sidewalk on garbage collection
days etc. I also cooked all my own food).

I never wandered very far into Roxbury though - and my apartment was 1 block
ahead of the hospital, so had just recently been claimed by the "nice"
brownstones. There was a great Jazz bar on mass ave - wallys ? not quite
right, but something along those lines, it was tiny and had been there
forever. I listened to some great music there. I also went there for his
wake, very touching.

Cheers

I went to school in West Roxbury for a while in the '70's - Berklee College
of Music on Boylston and Mass Ave. I lived off campus but I remember some
of the resident students getting mugged for their dirty laundry on their
way to the Laundromat.
