Probably old, but http://www.theonion.com/content/node/29130
I find the last paragraph to be more than a little bit true.

Paul said:Really? How do they propose getting their hands on thousands of HD-DVD
players to apply a firmawre patch?
The only people who will get buggered are the people who watch HD-DVDs
on Windows and their collection becomes worthless after the latest
'patch Tuesday'.
The buggered people will be those who bought HD-DVD players only to find
that either the other format (Blue-Ray?) or, more likely, some other
format wins out. Some people still remember Beta video tape players.
Required? I've got a money-back guarantee. If it quits, I take it back
to the store and get my money back.

Thanks,

updating the firmware is NOT Their defect, it is yours.
...or talk to a witch for a real hex...AC said:Fair enough. Just save the the hex for later. You might even be able
to get simular hexes in a hex mag for portability.

Not quite, the beta tape format / cartridge was the same for betamaxBeta was still being used by the network portable cameras because they
demanded a better quality image until digital evolved.

**** ALL pirate whores.
Try expaining that to some hillbilly who spent a weeks wages on that
thar conraption an' now it done got broke.
What in tarnation is 'firmwear'? Starched longjohns?
Except that betacam got an additional extra large cartrdge for longer tape
lengths, a bit like U-matic.
Yes.
Arguably the 'failure' of Sony's Beta format in the domestic market opened up a
far more lucrative market for Betacam in the professional field. The there was
Betacam SP and Digi Beta.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Betacam

You're an idiot.
What a carefully constructed argument.
The said:I don't need one. You said "buggered"
I'll re-phrase...
You're a goddamned IDIOT!
There... is that better, little boy?
How can a non-existent being damn me. You still have not explained why
you think buying HD-DVD is a good idea when there are so few movies for
it and there is a rival system which might well beat it.
I don't think many movies were over 4 hours and that is how much wouldBeta didn't make it because their tapes would not hold an entire movie
and home video renting was where the $$$ was.
