My Haier 32" HD TV fell over and cracked the screen. Repair shop said not cost effective to replace. Is it possible for a rookie to replace the screen?

Even if you could, the part would most likely cost more than a new TV.

Broken HD TV screen

Hi jcricket.
Thats so sad today in the 21st century, years ago you could go out get the part fix the item and good to go, reality today is source a supplier, price / vat / shipping, all adds up to more than the original TV in part due to the retail supplier purchasing probably thousands of units, given a chance to get a screen at a reasonable price, you would be in with a fighting chance of being able to repair, rather than replace.

Bit of a grown now, i dont understand why quality is not put before quantity, and that company manufacturers anticipate a failure rate for a product line in so many units as a percentage, i know, well i think i do, the logic behind it, in my opinion its profit margin, and how big a difference between manufacture and sale.

Ok every company has to have healthy productivity, but at the expense of quality, such a shame, sorry about the grown, it would be nice for you to source a screen and repair. Dave. :)

as bobk said its likely to cost more than a new TV, thats why the repair shop told your it isnt cost effective. That applies to the majority of domestic electronics these days.

cheers
Dave
