I Have a 1987 46" RCA Projection TV that keeps blowing a fuse. The
sound stays on but the picture is blank. It flashes a red screen then
goes blank. I change the 2 Amp 250V fuse and it is back on. Everything
works perfectly. Is there someone out there that knows what the
problem is or who can help me diagnose the problem. It has a hitachi
chasis and I have the schemadics.
Thanks

Its gonna take a lot more input and info than that. So unless you have
more understanding, not really.

The good news is that fuse popping is one of the easier types of fault
to locate and fix, usually.

The Tv is a 1989 ColorTrak 2000. It has a hitachi chassis. Model
number P46000T
The repair person who took this in and just put the fuse in without
any other diagnoses said it could possibly be a burned 1K resistor
near the EHT. (i don't know what that is) or it could be a drive
problem that effects the transister that makes the fuse go out. Also
another possibility could be a high voltage splitter problem (169).
Does this information help you? The repair guy said unless it starts
to smoke and something actually burns out that it would be hard to
find the problem. Do you feel the same way?
Thanks A lot,
Val

Maybe you can tell me what kind of information are you needing?
Thanks

OK. Type of power supply, which section of the circuitry is drawing
the excess current, which components are overheating, if any, test
results for the LOPTr, whether EHT is present, and so on. Basically
information only a repair peson would be able to find.

From what you say I'd pick another repair person, and always always
pick the free quote.
