I have a slotted optical switch made by Omron. On one arm is the number
4238 and on the other arm P2 HY8

It has a 3 pin connector. The only Omron part I can find with HY8 is not
an optical switch. If anyone can help with the pinout and voltages I would
appreciate it.

Can you take a pic and post to alt.binaries.schematics.electronic
(abse). Any other info such as, "is it from a specific item of
equipment" etc?

I don't recall a slotted interrupter with only 3 terminals from my
experience.
