STR729 is a sub... according to
www.pacificsemi.com they might have
them in stock. Or
www.mainelectronics.com as another possibility.
It is only a voltage regulator, you should be able to adapt another
voltage regulator to do the job with a bit of understanding of the
current and voltage required in the end...for example if you add a
zener to the ground reference of a regulator you will raise the output
voltage by the amount of the zener...assuming the ground reference is
not passing more current than the zener can safely handle! there are
better tricks, but this is simply one of them...

Hi,
I am looking for the above listed part. It is a voltage regulator in a TO3
style case to fix an older (80's) Teknica color TV Model # 3749. I have
been told by my local parts supplier that this part is no longer available.
Does anyone know where I can get this part? Is it truly obsolete? If so,
this would be a waste of an otherwise good, repairable 19" color TV. I am
fixing this up for a co-worker who cannot afford a new set so I would really
like to get it going. I also need a degaussing thermistor for this set or
info on a universal replacement. Please help as I really want to make this
set available to someone who really needs it.
Many Thanks,
Steve
