Good day good people.

I recently used a laptop charger on a Toshiba Satellite A3000D which was about 1 amp less than the required. After about 1 hour of work, felt a burning smell and i turned off the laptop, after that i couldn't turn it on anymore. I disassembled the laptop and i found a burned part which i cant identify. Please help me identify the part. The part is the one in the centre (A4F A 1S). It has 3 legs, looks like a transistor.
Peace people.

Thanks in advance :)

It is unusual that the laptop would be damaged in the circumstances you describe.

Can you tell us the rated output of the power supply (voltage & max current) vs. the requirements for the laptop (voltage and current).

It may be also worth checking the output voltage of the power supply to make sure it is in spec.

The charger i used: 19V 3.42A
The requirements of the laptop: 19V 4.74A

Thats what i think too, the 1S text, indicates a SOT-23 type, which is the one you prescribe in the link.
I asked a friend of mine which is an electronic engineer, he told me the "A4F A" is like a name given from the company that produced it, which is impossible to identify, unless u know the company name. he told nothing regarding the "1S", i searched and i found as relation to the SOT-23, like the one in your link. I hope youre right my friend. Ill make a try, ill post again after the test :). Thank you.

According to my data, A4F in SOT-23 may indicate an LN2351P4632M ( a 4.6V 400mA DC-DC converter). Is there an inductor and schottky diode near there?

The charger i used: 19V 3.42A
The requirements of the laptop: 19V 4.74A

Well, there's one problem. The charger needs to be rated for a higher current than the laptop.

Could be Steve, but the lot number seems to be in a different place. There is no reference to 1S.
Thanks
