Help reading capacitor code values

Hi,
I have a bunch of silver (colour), axial lead capacitors. They are about the
size of a 1/4 - 1/2 W carbon resistor. I don't understand how to read the
capacitor values from the markings on them, and webpages I've looked up
don't help too much. I don't have a meter that reads capacitance, and I
don't really want to make mistakes with the values. Hoping you can help me
to understand how to read these. Here are some examples.

These are all mil specs. The only way to get the value from this number
is to have a friend in the Gov't procurement office look up the spec.

Or be in the military and look it up yourself. ;-)

The other option, of course, is a C meter.

Ex 1 is a 2.2uF, 20V (at 85C or below) axial leaded tant cap. + marks polarity.
