Hi

I've no idea if anyone can help here, but perhaps if you can't help directly you may know somewhere else on the net that I can hunt for information.

I'm coming across quite a lot of Switch Mode Power Supply Units which use an 8 pin Dil chip which I'm not familiar with. This one appears to be unique in that 6 of the pins are commoned together leaving only 2 other pins as input and output.
Pins 1,2,3 are ground
Pin 4 is output and appears to drive the remainder of the circuit through an opto coupler.
Pin 5 is the rectified mains input.
Pins 6,7,8 are also ground.

Unfortunately every instance of this chip I've come across the top of the chip has either been sandpapered down or it's been covered in some other substance that makes identifying the chip difficult.

Can anyone help identify the chip used?

SMPSU's designed around this chip are appearing in CCTV camera's , Steam cleaners, all manor of items, some are multi rail output 12v, and 5v some are just 12v outputs.

Any ideas?

Thanks
