Try removing the wires to your siren and connecting them directly across the
battery. If the siren is good, it will work. If it clicks, you have a
speaker and not a siren. To test the alarm for function, put a volt meter
across the terminals where you removed the siren wires and activate the
alarm. You should get 12 volts or so. If you have voltage, then the siren
is bad.

Yes, any name brand 4 wire smoke will be fine.

Thanks for the prompt response Allan, i have just tried what you said,
in fact the Panel Wire connection to the (Siren) says SPKR. I tried the
wires directly on the Battery and i hear no sound at all, no click, The
Speaker is possibly out of earshot but im pretty sure i would have
heard a click !! Im going to have to crawl up there and physically find
the Speaker and check it out before i go and buy a Voltage Tester. Ill
keep you posted !!

I sent my kid up in the attic and he retreived the Speaker(a Megaphone
Type Thing) after punching a large hole in the garage ceiling !!! now i
presume the Speaker is Bad because theres no response even when i
connect it direct to the battery

Try removing the wires to your siren and connecting
them directly across the battery. If the siren is good,
it will work. If it clicks, you have a speaker and not a siren.

If it makes one loud pop, you *had* a speaker. :^)
To test the alarm for function, put a volt meter
across the terminals where you removed the
siren wires and activate the alarm.

Also, if you have a VOM (most voltmeters are VOMs), you can check
the wires leading to the speaker for resistance. If it's a
speaker or a combination of speakers it will usually show between
4 and 16 Ohms. Reverse polarity of the leads and you'll get the
same thing.

If it's a siren, you'll usually get a low resistance in one
direction and what looks like an open circuit or a very high
resistance when you reverse the poles.
You should get 12 volts or so. If you have voltage, then the
siren is bad...

Yep, or the wire is broken.

That's a good way to trash a speaker.

OK Awesome, i have tested the Siren output connections with a Votage
Tester and it gives a 12v charge when tripped but no Sound at all,
absolutely nothing !! Ive banged it tapped it still nothing!! So it
must be the Siren gone Bad, Right ??????? Im gonna need a Drywall
installer next !!

with a speaker there is no response when it is hooked to a battery. so your
test proved you either have a good speaker, a bad speaker or a bad self
contained siren.

I carry a wide array of sirens in my online store. We even
drop-ship some of them from a warehouse in Orlando.

You carry nothing in your "online store". It's a web based business.
How's the weather in Bahia, by the way??

We even
drop-ship some of them from a warehouse in Orlando.

Translation: You "drop ship" everything and from the number of
complaints at the BBB, I'd say you're not very successful at that either.
