I come seeking help as someone that dabbles a little bit in electronics but not too deep. So I need help but don’t have much help to offer back, sorry.
I am looking to build a controller that will run a 120v motor. I know what I need it to do, and know it can be done, just don’t know what components it takes to make it all work.
The motor is 120v reversible gear motor (14rpm) that has a .38 amp draw. It does have a shaft out the back the turns at full motor speed (2000rpm)
Motor will be running a cable system to move an item. I need to track the position of the item being moved and stop it a programmed points, also have it go to programmed points in both direction. This needs to be controlled by an IR remote, control by network or USB would also be a bonus.
I figure a Hall sensor on the shaft out the back of the motor would be good for tracking position
I need to be able to program in a minimum of 4 positions that can be called up but hitting a bottom on the remote. Basically hit 1,2,3, or 4 and the motor will go forward or back to get to that position and then stop.
Also need a reset feature that will sync the motor up if things get out of whack. Reset command would run the motor in a predetermined direction until it is stopped by a limiting switch. This would then be set as position “0”
Any help to get me going in the correct direction would be great.
