Hi All, I have to provide a single shot 5v .2A 30ms square wave to drive a squib test circuit. I think it can be done easily with a monostable 555 timer circuit but I have a budget of £600 and would like to acquire a waveform generator to increase my test capability.

Does anyone have experience using generators in a single shot pulse mode? before I buy one I'd like to know if it will give me just one pulse with a long gap (around a minute to make any adjustments to test kit) I would prefer to acquire something that can be programmed simply from the front panel or without too much software involved.

I asked a couple of manufacturers and one said it cant be done and another said go read the manual. Just wondered if this is a common function of modern arbitrary waveform generators?

I should imagine it could be done with a dual 555 which is a 556 with one providing the pulse period and the other doing the pulse width. And both can be made adjustable using potentiometers.
