Part of: Hitachi 21" monitor, model CM802U Manufactured June 1997
Issue: Heavy vertical jitter for about 30 seconds during warm up,
even after blank screen screen saver.
Designation: I701,
Location: Front center on main board.
Markings: LA7860, 7BBS (no logo.)
Identified it by selective cooling with compressed air, general areas,
then through a couple feet of thin shrink tubing, then by dabbing with
a swab soaked in freeze spray. screen shakes when the chip passes
through a certain temperature range.
1. Is this a common part, or some Hitachi ASIC?
2. If I somehow managed to find a Hitachi servicer, would they replace
the part, or the whole board (assuming they're still available.)?
Yes, I could just buy a LCD display, but, to get the same real estate
of my two 21" CRT's, I'd have to buy an (expensive) 30" widescreen,
like the Dell 3007WFP..
