my switch on my marshall amp just broke so i need a switch i want to use this 20a 12v safety switch to replace it.. its 3 pin and the old one was 4 pin.

this is the switch i want to use.. its 12vac on the package of the one i bought..
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062493

and this is the switch that it had.. it looked like this but it says 10a 250v on it
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-x-Black-B...752?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d3cbe5b80

so i tried putting it on and i posted a couple pictures of what i did.. i connected the two white wires together and soldered them to the power terminal and the two black wires to the ground.. the way the wires are configured is 1 w and 1 b come in from the wall.. and 1 b goes to the transformer while the other white is routed to the board.. this is how its wired and when i plug it into the wall the led is lit while the switch is off.. which seems like a problem so i unplugged it really fast.. i was also thinking maybe i need a resistor because the new switch is only rated at 12v.. i really dont get it.. anyone know what to do to make this work?

ok so i figured it out.. i took the white wire that goes to the board and routed it to the acc terminal.. when i first hooked it up i had the black on the power and the white on ground cuz i wasnt paying attention and the led blew out.. is this because i wired it backwards or because its only rated at 12v? is there a way to make it not blow the led?

so im guessing that it is because its only rated for 12v and I suggest putting a resistor in series with the led

so would that mean putting a resistor from the wall to the switch? and would that also diminish the power going into the amp from the wall and effect the performance of the amp? i know some amps have led switches.. i just dont really understand how they work..

Did it occur to you that there might be a reason that the original switch was rated at 250V?

yeah, i did.. i assume thats the rating of the led and not the switch itself.. the question is how to configure the setup to make it work.. if i need a resistor then so be it.. ehow says connect the power from the wall to the acc and the white from the board to the power terminal of the switch.. which basically means all i have to do is replace the switch and reverse the two white wires.. which was certainly not obvious as one would think that the wall goes into the power terminal and accessory is for routing out to auxiliary components.. im guessing when its setup like this the overload is bipassed around the led and buffered through the transformer and then routed into the led.. do you think this is accurate?
