Hi All
I'm new to the forum, I hope I have come to the right place and apologies for any silly questions, I'm not a technician...
I would like to know if it is possible to add a 3.5 mm audio input to a portable player dock. I have a Yamaha PDX 50 ipod dock and I have lost the transmitter, is there any way I could wire up an aux input to be used with any device?
I have seen a video of someone wiring up a different brand of speaker and was wondering if it can be done with mine as well. I found the service manual here https://elektrotanya.com/yamaha_pdx-30_pdx-50.pdf/download.html
Can someone tell me where to connect the signal wires and the ground wires on the circuit board please
Any help is greatly appreciated
Kind regards
Simon

The relevant audio connection is at IC7 on page 17:

On the PCB this location is here:

Connect the L/R signals to the IPOS connector or to the left of inductors L11, L12 (see markings in diagram). Do not forget ground aka Audioret (Connector Pin 29).:

However, there are other connections (Rx, Tx, Acc_pwr) that may be used by the processor in this unit to detect the actual presence of an Ipod. It may well be tha the audio processing part does not work without an ipod being detected.

I'm sorry, I overlooked that there are two devices in one manual. The respective parts for the PDX-50 are:

You may have to remove the wireless interface module so the signals from the external input do not interfere with the output stage of the module.

Hello.
What is the intended meaning of the triangles symbols inside IC7 at first image on post #2 , for L1/R1, L/R2, L3/R3, L4/R4 ?

Hello,

The triangles are likely some analog switches for the selector inputs, like in the 4066 chips.

Thank you for your reply
I'll see if I can get it to work without destroying the board
Merry Christmas everyone

However, there are other connections (Rx, Tx, Acc_pwr) that may be used by the processor in this unit to detect the actual presence of an Ipod. It may well be tha the audio processing part does not work without an ipod being detected.

Despite is quite old this message,,hanks for this explanation, I will try to do this modification because I´ve been trying several 30 Pin bluetooth adapter bought in internet, and none of the one I bought work with PDX-30. The device pair , but not audio is reproduced.

You mention that "However, there are other connections (Rx, Tx, Acc_pwr) that may be used by the processor in this unit to detect the actual presence of an Ipod. It may well be tha the audio processing part does not work without an ipod being detected" what you mean with that? is something that may be a device should be in place in the connector and when is precesence, then the modification with audio jack will work?
Or is there any tricky or connection that can be done in order to cheat that signal to the procesor, with some internal wiring, that may allow to use the audio jack without a device in the 30 pin connector.
Thanks in Advance
