Having successfully installed one in an M802 I would like to know if anyone
here has one or a Bluetooth SCS modem. Seems the Bluetooth range is short.
Works great if you are close enough.

Bluetooth range standard is 10 meters, but it's on 2400 Mhz so almost
anything blocks the signal, including your body which is unfortunate.

I use a Motorola S9 Bluetooth headset from a bluetooth netbook computer.
The headset receiver sits on the back of your neck. It's range suffers
when you're walking towards the computer, and you're head is absorbing the
signal.

Class 1 bluetooth range is 100 meters. And I get very good reports of people
using a MiniPlex-BT, a bluetooth enabled NMEA multiplexer. Even when sitting
on an outrigger of a tri, the datalink to the centre hull is solid.

.....but I bet Dave is talking about a CONSUMER Bluetooth device, not some
commercial system costing thousands.

Cisco makes fantastic routers and servers, too, but we're all running
CONSUMER equipment.....

Hi Dave,
i read Your notice about having installed an Pactor zrxptc in a ICOM M802. I live on a boat and I'm just installing my Radio. I ordered a Pactor TRXPTC for my M802. I realized that there are no installation guides coming with the modem. If I have prblems installing it, would You be so kind to tell me how You have done it?
Thank You very much for your help,
