Hi everybody, this is my first post and this idea is kind of "out there."
So I was playing around with some mics when I came up with the idea to design an omni-directional ribbon mic. A traditional RM diaphragm is a piece of corrugated foil between two magnets. What if you had a series of thread of very small ribbons arranged in a circle, with magnets in between each thread/tiny ribbon. If you made a capsule like this would it work? I can already recognize that there would be lesser input due to the decrease in size of the ribbon(s). Thoughts? Thanks- Jonathan
BTW I know this somewhat defeats the purpose of a ribbon mic, but I'm just curious to see if this would work or maybe create cool results.
