I tested for continuity across the terminals and it shows "OL" on my meter, also checked with my multi function tester and it says part is damaged...

Tested across which terminals? And the multi-function tester you have (assuming its the chinese component tester) wasn't designed to test such devices so won't tell you anything useful.

If you look at the PCB where the coil was located you will see the two windings drawn on the board. Your test meter should read something across the primary winding and across the secondary but NOT from one side to the other(i.e. NOT between primary and secondary).

To visualize, see red marks here:

Resistance should be measureable between the pins connected by the red lines, but not between top and bottom windings

Remember that we are (possibly very) remote from you and can't see what you are doing. You need to describe your actions in detail and as precisely as possible, accompanied by pictures where possible.

Presuming the red lines are numbered from the left 1-2-3-4 then the reading is 0.5ohms from pin 1 & 3, then "OL" when testing 1&4
and "OL" when testing 3&4. There is no reading when measuring from primary to secondary, it reads (OL)

Without seeing the bottom of the board we can't tell if all the pins are used. Measurement between 1 and 3 reads 0.5ohms? That looks about right.

What about the other 'side' (the two pins on their own? - red 'smile') What do they read?

Reading primary to secondary as OL is correct.
