I have two Kenwood tm-255 that the incandescent have burned out.
the first one I replaced the lamps with white clear rounded 3mm leds
the second one with blue clear rounded 3mm leds.
The first one the display reads reasonably well white
The second one with the blue leds can only be viewed off axis either above
or below the display.
I believe that lcd crystal displays have a polarized filter to make them visible.
Are my leds polorized?? (wrong polorization)
Any help will be appreciated

That would be very special LEDs. Standard LEDs are not polarized.
You may suffer from interference of the light waves within the LCD's structure - just a guess.
I recommend you swap the blue LEDs for white ones.
