In what ways can a transformer fail....?

Of course, the particles are atoms of iron, and there is a gap between each
nucleus. If there were no gap, nuclear fusion would occur. Now *that* is a
spectacular way for a transformer to fail! Boom!

Apparently you are also unaware of their construction details.

I expected the PhilTard to be stupid about the world, but I would
expect more than a peanut gallery petty baby bullshit comment out of
the like of you.

There is a "gap" maintained between each layer of steel,

They do not use steel for transformers.

They use laminated IRON. Could that be what you two retards are
trying to guess at?

E-I cores are constructed with interleaving sheets
of steel with no intentional gap in the magnetic path.

Absolutely incorrect.

This protection comes at the cost of poor regulation and
low efficiency.

You're an idiot. An ungapped pot core in a switcher is a poorer
performer than one with a proper gap.

** Well, I bet that is big news to all the transformer grade steel and GOSS
makers.

This dumb **** is a stand up comic !!!!!

But the COLOSSAL FOOL is as unfunny as a dead baby.

Yes. It is built into the particles that make up the core.

in a tape wound toroidial the core is a single piece of metal
there is essentially no gap.

** Complete nonsense.

"Impedance protection" or " inherently short circuit proof " transformer
design relies on creating a large leakage inductance value between primary
and secondary windings.

Usually seen only with very small mains transformers ( 5VA or less).

And microwave ovens? is that what the magnetic shunts do?

Bye.

nope they use silicon steel.
