Hi, I am trying to find some information about an electronic motor
that I have from a broken cat door. The motor is fine, I am hoping
that knowing about the motor would reveal some secret in the
electronics controller. The motor starts up, winds a steel cable up a
gear, but the controller never shuts the motor off, causing the door
to stick open, letting raccoons inside.

The label on the motor says "SOHO GBF35B-21210-15YC", with SOHO being
the company name. It also has a manufacturing date sometime in 2003,
says "Made in Taiwan".

I know it is a DC motor, most likely 24 volts (the power supply that
came with the cat door is 24V DC at 1 Amp).

I have not been able to find any information on this motor on the web,
in catalogs, and it is annoying because "SOHO" keeps hitting "Small
Office Home Office" vendors.

It would be wonderful to get a spec sheet for it, is there a good
source of information that would get me such data, or is there
something in the part number that would point me to some standard
specification for DC motors? I am thinking it might be a generic part
that doesn't require getting a spec sheet from the manufacturer if it
has a particular number on it.

Thanks for any advice!

It's likely a mechanical problem with the sensor that detects the door state.

Have a look around for little switches, or perhaps infrared 'eyes' that had dirt
on them.
