Hello everyone, thanks for any help in advance. I have a small Milwaukee hand held band saw and I am attempting to install a switch that will make it run in reverse but after I wired it up, I plug in the battery in and the wires start to warm up, When switched to run in reverse it does, but very slowly. Does anyone have any ideas of what I need to do to get this to operate smoothly and not heat up the wires

What size wire are you using? Sounds like you need to use a heavier gauge.

Well they are the same size wires as the other existing wires that are coming from the battery. When I put the switch in reverse it runs very slow but should run the same speed. would that be a part of the problem?

What switch did you use and how did you wire it? Which model saw is it?

Its the smallest one they make a 12volt band saw, as far as wire make up, the switch has 6 terminals, I wired the opposite terminals together on each side then to the battery and the two terminals in the middle to where the wires that were previously attached to the battery. so 1 to 6 to battery, 4 to 3 to battery and 2 and 5 straight out. This band saw has a mother board too???

The teeth on a band-saw blade are shaped to cut in one direction. Why would you want to reverse that?
