inverter battery start generator with extra surge capability?

I recall reading here a couple o fyears ago
about a line of small (5 kw or so) generators
with electric start, which...

.... which kept the battery (normally used for
the starting) in parallel with the system. That
way, if there was a starting surge/demand by,
for example, an air conditioner, the generator
could draw on the battery for a bit until
the extra demand was over.

- this let you get by with a smaller generator
more tuned to the normal demand, as opposed to
needing something Much Bigger to handle the
starting surge.

I'm drawing blanks in trying to find any details
as to models or brand names.

Anyone remember? Thanks

You can do that with just abut ANY OutBack Power System Inverter/Charger,
and with MOST of the Trace SW Series Inverter/Chargers. Old News.....
Nothing new here.... Move along....

Yep! That feature was/is on certain models of the Yamaha line of
inverter generators.

I have only had experience with Yamaha's smallest inverter model, which
my employer kept for emergency power for our scattering of
communications closets. They were an amazing product. Absolutely
reliable, quiet, and real gas sippers.

From the Yamaha site:
•The Yamaha EF3000iSE and the EF3000iSEB are two of the most
technologically advanced inverter generators available. Get that extra
“boost” of power to get your power tool or air conditioner started
quickly and efficiently thanks to the EF3000iSEB generator from Yamaha.
The “B” on EF3000iSEB means it features Yamaha Boost Technology®, which
provides additional power when you need it. Perfect for the RV
enthusiast, the EF3000iSEB is an ideal source of power for either a
fifth wheel or travel trailer. The Boost Control Unit in the generator
automatically senses when you need additional boost and uses power from
the internal 12-volt battery to produce additional amperage. With the
additional 10-second boost, the power is comparable to a conventional
3500-watt generator.

Features: •Yamaha Boost Technology® (YBT) (EF3000iSEB only) — Boosts
output by adding battery voltage to alternator when needed. The Boost
Control Unit (BCU) senses when extra power is needed and boosts output
for up to 10 seconds, giving air conditioners, power tools, and other
equipment the extra boost of power they may need to start quickly and
efficiently.

Thnks, that's it.

The 4500 also has that feature. That is the one I am going to get as
soon as I save up the money.
