JVC horizontal lines

I have a JVC AV32D302 CRT television. Lately we have been experiencing horizontal lines at the top section of our screen coming down about 3 - 4 inches. The picture is fine but that section is sometimes distorted.

I have been told it could be the vertical filter capacitors or the vertical chip but I can not identify them on the circuit board nor are they identified in the service manual or the parts manual.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When the vertical deflection is not quite able to recoil back up to the top of the screen fast enough (before the picture starts again) then there's usually a capacitor at fault.
It's usually a big (2200uF) electrolytic capacitor around the vertical deflection IC/ drive. In Nokia's it could even be a small 0.1uF plastic capacitor being worn out instead.
Please provide a link to an online manual/diagram if you are unable to locate the parts in question.

Thanks for the info. Any other suggestions on how to get the files to you? They are too large for this forum.

I know you are trying to help and I appreciate it. The files I have are pdf and they don't seem to fit the format on imageshack. Any other suggestions?

If you follow the wiring from the vertical deflection yoke (on page 7) you'll see that it leads to IC421 and C428 (2200uF 25V). Try replacing that capacitor first.
If that doesn't cure it then try replacing C424 (100uF 35V) and C425 (470uF 35V).
