JVC rear projection NV-55D500 won't turn on

Hope someone can help me out. I'm trying to figure out why my friends tv suddenly won't turn but. When the power button is pressed the green led comes on and relay clicks but doesn't turn on. No blown fuses no visible problems an won't turn on. It's a JVC NV-55D500 chassis no. VZ7 manufactured in 1999. Apparently the night before there were some coloured lines startingacrosst the top of the screen. The set was turned off and the next morning the tv turned on and shortly after it turned off and won't come back on. I unplugged the set for an hour then tried it and same thing. Any suggestions? Anyone have a service manual? Anything?
