The quick check is to remove the lens and ensure that the beam is in the middle of the lens tube at various positions on the bed (the four corners and the middle is what I use).

I stuck a bit of thermal tape under the lens cover and did that test at all 4 corners - seems ok now that I've replaced the lens and given everything a clean, so I wonder if I had it sitting off-centre previously. Next plan is to build an adjustable z-table, as the current bed is awful.

I think I enjoy fixing and upgrading the laser cutter as much as actually using it :D.

...ain't that always the case! I find myself making loads of test equipment more than actually using it!

It's always a learning exercise - and I seem to have an insatiable desire to learn (or at least try to!)
