I am going to convert it to a regular ignition system like on a lawnmower. I think that will work?

Lawnmowers are magnetos with a dedicated flywheel/ magnet placement arrangement.

If you can machine the crankshaft to a taper, machine a keyway, all to suit the "lawnmower flywheel" and then mount the magneto in the appropriate position, then sure.

These engines dont realy lend themselves to other aplications. This 2.5Kv Kipor the crank shaft does not go through the other side of the crank case. You can see the ign pick up coil on the outside of the flywheel. In the bottom picture you see a small square bit protruding from the flywheel is the trigger point.ENGINE.1.JPG STATOR & ROTOR.2.JPG STATOR & ROTOR.JPG

Yes the pickup sensor is the same from you. But on my engine the coil is also near the flywheel. But much further away from the flywheel then by a lawn mower.

It is that type of coil that is near the flywheel

Show more detailed photos of your engine.
Without an opposite side extended drive shaft as Debe explains, how did you intend to drive anything.

I did find some reference..... it appears the ignition, although quoted as transistor, may well be cdi.
The value of the coil in the attached section of the manual shows a value of the primary as low as 0.8 ohm.
PDF of the particular section at the bottom.

Possible to use one of the pocket rocket motorcycle cdi units.
One i refer to is the DC 4 wire unit which uses a very similar pick up pulse coil and they are cheap on Ebay.
A bit of searching one can find the "black box" from China for around AU$10.00.
If concerned it may not match the coil you have then a matching GY6 coil can be included for around an additional $6-$8 depending where you look.

Plenty of info on the wiring etc. on the web but i'll put some detail here for you to chew on.

4 pin DC CDI ...... https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/192547356032?hash=item2cd4b77d80:g:y~QAAOSwxLVa86yR

GY6 coil .............. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/264686643873?hash=item3da08daaa1:g:9PgAAOSwgaZehx3D

Tried to add the pdf of the details but site restrictions don't allow it so a link will have to suffice.

Be aware the one i refer to is the 4 pin dc cdi unit.

The coil in your picture is the same as mine & its not driven by the fly wheel, its driven by the electronics which is only fed by 12V AC, not high enough for CDI. Puled one apart & drew out the part that drives the coil & its a switching transistor.

Fair enough....I only went by what is normally primary coil resistance in CDI versus battery ignition.
As the details of the whole system are fairly scarce, it becomes a bit of a guess or as in your findings, ripping one apart.:):)
What I was suggesting was some form of alternative.

Existing ignition battery supply could feed the 12v DC CDI module i referred to.
Use the GY6 coil and try with the original Kipor trigger.
All a bit trial and error I guess.
Would only cost about $25 to try.

In the file you have a drawing of the ignition system.
