Kits available for making female connectors for PCB headers?

I did a Google search for this, but I must be using the wrong terms...

I prefer to use connectors on my circuit boards vs. soldering wires
directly. I take apart a fair amount of scrapped electronics, so I
know that there are a variety of headers and connectors available.

Are there kits available for 2-pin, 3-pin, ... n-pin headers and
connectors, or does one have to buy everything separately?

Thanks.

are very popular. as are

And so on.

OK, looks like the terms I was looking for were things like "wire-to-
board", "crimp housings", "crimp terrminals", etc.

Thanks all.

Hmmm, still not finding things in kit form...

Is it necessary to buy crimp pins, connectors and headers (and a
crimping tool?) separately, or are there kits available somewhere?

If they're available from Molex, DigiKey or Mouser, I haven't seen
them, but maybe I just don't know what to look for.

Nay, nay! See, for example, Molex kit KK-100
<http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=WM9983-ND>
with 0.1" pin headers, receptacle housings, receptacles, and crimper. To
be quite honest regarding the crimper they include, well, sucks is just
too kind. Waldom/Molex has a few other "complete" kits for various sizes
and styles; catalog at
<http://www.waldom.com/kits/KitsSection_190307.pdf>

For the OP, this crimper (available at other sites, of course)
<http://www.toolking.com/eclipse_300-009.aspx> is far, far better than
what the kit above includes. It's also reasonably priced and can be used
on most small, open-barrel style connectors like DB-style contacts.

Only if that's what you want to use. You could use screw terminals and
lugs if you like and have the space.

You comitted the cardinal sin of forgetting to tell us what is you're
trying to do and why.
