LCD monitor Bumped

Durring moving, looks like someone bumped my LCD screen, it now has a
big "Bruise" in the middle of the screen. I tried the stuck pixel
fix, and I tried applyhing pressure to the spot and power cycleing the
monitor. Any other stuggestions? I would hate to toss the monitor,
the rest of the screen looks great.

Thanks!

I know this is complicated, but...
type G-O-O-G-L-E . C-O-M into your browser window, and when it comes up,
type S-T-U-C-K P-I-X-E-l.

This 'fix' of dubious efficacy refers however, as its name suggests, to
"pixels" , which are tiny individual cells on the screen, not to a big
'bruise' - as I think the OP referred to it - in the centre of the screen,
which would of course imply many thousands of pixels affected ...

If the screen has taken a knock, and there is a large discoloured area, this
would normally suggest serious internal damage to it, which writes it off.

sorry, didn't mean to offend you by asking a simple question which you

Or, put another way, IF YOU DON'T WANT TO ANSWER HIS QUESTION, DON'T BOTHER
POSTING ANYTHING.

Google isn't mandatory prior to asking questions regardless what you say,

I see this a lot on LCDs and there's nothing you can do. It doesn't
seem to get better, or worse with time either.

My roommate had a big splotch like that on his laptop screen. He got it
replaced under warranty and now it's starting to happen again in a
different spot. Anyone know what's actually going on in these cases? I
know I'm a minority but I've never seen an LCD I preferred over a good
quality CRT.

You won't get any contest from me over that, so that's a minority of two, at
least ... !!

I've been using LCD for maybe 5 years. I can't stand looking at a crt
now. My son who is 15 has never used a crt and he loves these futuristic
combat games like Half Life etc... I bought him a new 19" LCD widescreen
monitor and it's as fast as any crt I've seen.

Colored areas can be due to stresses. Are there any dents in the case that
might apply stress?

You might try disassembling the case, loosening the screws mounting the LCD
to allow any stresses to 'relax'. While you have it loose, check and make
sure nothing came loose behind the screen and is pressing on the screen
from the back.

Did it perhaps get very hot? Perhaps left in a sun-warmed-van? Perhaps face
down, resting on something, with the something pressing on the screen???

Before you throw it away, you might try warming it up (evenly!) to temps
that it might have experienced in the van.

Let it 'cook' for a while and then let it slowly cool down. Try not to
apply any uneven stresses to the screen (lay it down so that the screen is
'up', flat and level)while it is hot or cooling.

Perhaps support it on some soft pillows while you let it heat and cool.

Good luck.
