LCD Monitor does not turn on

I have a 15" LCD monitor that does not turn on anymore. It's a Tatung PD-40
and has been in use for about 2 years. It has an external 12V power supply
which works ok. The monitor itself does not come on, and the power LED also
does not light up when pressing the POWER-ON button.

What should I be looking for? What has to be replaced? It's not the
backlight, as the LCD does not come on at all. I was thinking it could be
the INVERTER, but how do I find out for sure.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would start by checking any fuses. I've seen a few LCDs where one
blew for no apparent reason.

The inverter usually puts out high-voltage AC to drive the backlight.
I have used a small NE-2 bulb taped to a popcicle stick to detect
if this voltage is present. Just hold it near the small transformer(s)
on the inverter board. The gas in it will glow if a high-voltage
AC source is nearby.
Hope this helps....

The 12 volt external power supply may be at fault.
