I have a dead Phillips LCD TV. Fuse and cord are OK. The power supply transformer makes a high pitched noise. No voltages on the output lside. Can I replace this? Is it wise to? Is it likely that something else failed? Thanks.

Hi Tony
Welcome :)

I assume you are referring to a puwer pack thats in the middle of a cable bet6ween wall outlet and monitor ?

Its most likely the PSU, they fail very regularly.... can you beg/borrow a loaner to confirm that ?

they are repairable ... with a lot of effort, slicing the plastic box open etc
much easier just to buy a replacement .... most output 12VDC at ~ 4 - 5Amps
have a look on the label to confirm and then buy one of eBay, amazon etc

Thanks, but this is on the main board. The caps all look OK. None are bulging or leaking. It's just that there is no transformer output at any of the voltages and the transformer is making a high pitched noise. I am testing the voltages against the ground on the same line as the output pins.
