Lead Acid Battery(gel Type) Getting Fat And Losing Its Capacity To Hold Charge

i would like to know how its happening ,how to prevent it ?
the battery was a deep cycle 12 v 20 ah battery used in e bike.
now i notice 4 of them got fatty.but one still working fine.is it okey to keep the one working fine with new batteries ?

that's because it has been getting hot due to over charging .... use a proper charger suitable for that battery

now i notice 4 of them got fatty.but one still working fine.

it's not a good idea to mix old and new batteries, regardless of their type
for reliability, I would be buying 4 new batteries

You will find the old one that has bulged may be still working OK at the moment .... but it's life will have been severely shortened
and it wont be long till it finally fails

I dont think it is a good idea to keep them. Also i am not sure what chemical reaction goes on inside them that make them "fat" as you say. Best thing to do is to charge them periodically like once every month for a few hours to make sure that their voltage never drops below 12V.
