I have a Samsung LED tv that only has a picture on left half of the screen. The right half is just white. There are also some banding on the left half. Anyone have an idea what could be causing this and if I can repair this without replacing the screen?

Possible fault on the TCON board - small board that attaches to the LCD column drivers, usually at the top of the set (inside, behind the cover of course). Usually available online.

May even be a simple ribbon cable misalignment. Time to take the back cover off.

Thanks Kellys_eye, I did try disconnecting/cleaning the ribbon cable connection from and to the TCON but no difference. Is there any testing I can do to verify if it's a faulty TCON?

Only by straight swapping.

You may also have an issue with the ribbon to the actual LCD panel - there are column driver devices on a flexible ribbon between the TCON board and the LCD panel itself and the flexi ribbon sometimes comes away from the LCD panel edge itself and is NOT fixable. It is unusual for it ALL to come away though (such displacement normally shows as random columns being a fixed colur i.e. stripes down the screen) so the TCON still seems the place to be checking.

Your only 'hope' is to swap out the TCON panel and hope for the best.
